US iPhone 14 and later — eSIM only
This affects:
- iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro, 14 Pro Max (US versions)
- iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max (US versions)
- iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, 16 Pro Max (US versions)
International versions of the same models still have a physical SIM slot AND eSIM support (Dual SIM).
iPad — eSIM compatible
Most cellular iPads from 2018 onwards support eSIM. WiFi-only models do NOT have any cellular capability and can't use eSIM.
| Model | eSIM? |
|---|---|
| iPad Pro 11" / 12.9" (3rd gen, 2018) and later | ✅ |
| iPad Air (3rd gen, 2019) and later | ✅ |
| iPad mini (5th gen, 2019) and later | ✅ |
| iPad (7th gen, 2019) and later | ✅ |
How to verify your specific model
The easiest way:
- Open Settings → General → About
- Scroll down to find Carrier Lock
- If you see No SIM restrictions, your device is unlocked AND eSIM-capable
- To double-check eSIM support specifically: Settings → Cellular — if you see Add eSIM or Add Cellular Plan, eSIM is supported
Carrier lock matters
Even an eSIM-compatible iPhone won't work with tukango if it's carrier-locked. See How to check if your phone is carrier locked for details.
