Before you begin

  • Compatible iPhone: iPhone XS or later (2018+)
  • iOS version: iOS 14 or later (Settings → General → About)
  • WiFi connection: Required for installation
  • Unlocked device: Your iPhone must not be carrier-locked
  • QR code ready: From your email or tukango dashboard

Installation steps

Go to Settings on your iPhone home screen.

2

Navigate to eSIM settings

  • iOS 17.4+: Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM
  • iOS 16–17.3: Settings → Cellular → Add Cellular Plan
  • iOS 14–15: Settings → Cellular → Add Cellular Plan
3

Select "Use QR Code"

Tap "Use QR Code" when prompted to choose how to add the eSIM.

4

Scan the QR code

Point your camera at the QR code from your tukango email or dashboard. The code will be detected automatically.

5

Confirm the plan

Review the cellular plan details and tap "Add Cellular Plan" or "Continue".

6

Label your line (optional)

You can label this line as "Travel" or "tukango" to easily identify it. Choose a label and tap "Done".

7

Set data line preference

When asked which line to use for cellular data, select your tukango eSIM line for data. Keep your primary line for calls and messages.

After installation

Your eSIM is now installed but not yet active. The data plan begins when you connect to a network at your destination.

Before departure checklist:

  • ✓eSIM appears in Settings → Cellular
  • ✓eSIM line is toggled ON
  • ✓Data Roaming is enabled for the eSIM line (Settings → Cellular → [tukango line] → Data Roaming → ON)
  • ✓Primary line is still active for calls/texts

Troubleshooting

"Unable to Complete Cellular Plan Change" error: Restart your iPhone and try again. Make sure you have a stable WiFi connection. Check that your device is not carrier-locked.

QR code won't scan: Try adjusting brightness and distance. Use the manual entry option: Enter the SM-DP+ address and activation code from your email.

eSIM installed but no internet at destination: Enable Data Roaming: Settings → Cellular → [tukango line] → Data Roaming. Restart your phone after landing.
