Important regional differences
US versions
Most US versions support eSIM as listed above.
European versions (EU/UK)
Most EU versions support eSIM, but a few exceptions exist — Galaxy S20 FE and S21 FE in some EU markets shipped without eSIM support.
Asian versions
Hong Kong, India, China, and some Southeast Asian variants of Samsung phones often lack eSIM support entirely. They use dual physical SIM trays instead.
South Korean versions
Korean variants of Galaxy phones started supporting eSIM with the S23 series. Earlier Korean models do NOT support eSIM, even if the international version of the same model does.
How to check your Samsung
Method 1: Settings menu
- Open Settings → Connections → SIM card manager
- If you see Add eSIM or Add mobile plan, eSIM is supported
- If only physical SIM options appear, eSIM is not supported on your model
Method 2: Dial *#06#
- Open the Phone app
- Dial \*#06#
- Look for an EID — if present, your phone has eSIM hardware
Carrier lock check
Even eSIM-capable Samsung phones won't work if they're carrier-locked. Most US carrier-locked Samsungs hide eSIM settings entirely. See How to check carrier lock for details.
