Most tukango eSIMs auto-configure their APN (Access Point Name) settings, but in rare cases you may need to set it manually. Here's when and how.
What is APN?
The APN (Access Point Name) tells your phone how to connect to the carrier's data network. It's normally invisible — your phone gets it automatically when the eSIM activates. But sometimes the auto-detection fails and you'll see "connected" with no actual internet access.
When to set APN manually
Try a manual APN if:
- Your eSIM shows signal bars but no data
- Web pages don't load even though you have signal
- WhatsApp says "connecting…" forever
- A specific country's plan requires it (rare)
Do you need a manual APN?
On most networks the APN is set automatically. There is no single tukango APN — it depends on the local network your eSIM connects to.
If your eSIM has signal but no data, contact support and we'll confirm the APN for your plan.
Setting APN on iPhone
Open Settings
Go to Settings → Cellular (or Mobile Data)
Tap your tukango line
Select the eSIM line you want to configure.
Open Cellular Data Network
Tap Cellular Data Network. If you don't see this option, your carrier or phone model doesn't allow manual APN editing.
Enter the APN
Under Cellular Data, enter the APN provided by support. Leave Username and Password blank.
Restart your phone
Power off, wait 10 seconds, power on. Your iPhone re-applies the new APN.
Setting APN on Samsung / Android
Open Settings
Go to Settings → Connections → Mobile networks
Open Access Point Names
Tap Access Point Names (sometimes under "More" or "Advanced").
Add a new APN
Tap the + icon or Add to create a new APN profile.
Fill in the details
- Name: tukango
- APN: provided by support
- Leave all other fields blank or default
Save and select
Tap the menu (⋮) → Save. Then tap the new APN to select it as active.
Restart your phone
Power off and on for the new APN to take effect.
Setting APN on Google Pixel
Open Settings
Go to Settings → Network & internet → SIMs
Tap your tukango eSIM
Select the eSIM line.
Tap Access Point Names
Scroll down and tap Access Point Names.
Add a new APN
Tap the + icon at the top right.
Fill in
- Name: tukango
- APN: provided by support
Save and select
Save from the menu, then tap the new APN to make it active.
Troubleshooting
Toggle airplane mode for 10 seconds, then off. If still nothing, restart the phone fully. APN changes sometimes need a hard reset to take effect.
Some carrier-locked phones disable APN editing. Contact your carrier for unlock instructions, or contact tukango support for an alternative configuration.
Your phone may be restricted by your home carrier. Try installing the eSIM as a fresh profile rather than updating an existing one.
