Prefer manual setup? Follow the guide below.
Your eSIM is installed but your data plan doesn't start until you actually connect to a network at your destination. Here's exactly what to do the moment your plane lands.
The 2-minute landing routine
Wait for the plane to taxi
Don't rush. Most carriers don't allow phone use until you're at the gate. Use the wait to take your phone off airplane mode.
Turn off airplane mode
Swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the airplane icon. Your phone immediately starts looking for networks.
Verify the tukango line is on
- iPhone: Settings → Cellular → make sure the tukango line shows ON
- Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM card manager → tukango eSIM toggled on
- Pixel: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → tukango should appear with signal bars
Confirm Data Roaming is enabled
This is the #1 cause of "no internet" complaints. Even though you're not technically roaming (you're using a local plan), your phone treats the foreign network as roaming.
- iPhone: Settings → Cellular → [tukango line] → Data Roaming → ON
- Samsung: Settings → Connections → Mobile networks → Data roaming → ON
- Pixel: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → tukango → Roaming → ON
Wait 30-60 seconds
Your phone needs time to register with a local carrier. Watch the signal bars on your tukango line — they should fill in within a minute.
Test your connection
Open a web page or send a WhatsApp message. If it works — you're done!
What if it doesn't work?
Restart your phone
The single most effective fix. Power off completely, wait 10 seconds, power on. The phone re-registers with the local network from scratch.
Try manual network selection
- iPhone: Settings → Cellular → [tukango line] → Network Selection → turn off Automatic → pick a network manually
- Samsung: Settings → Connections → Mobile networks → Network operators → search → pick one
- Pixel: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → tukango → Mobile network → Automatically select network → off → pick one
The network name is not shown on the plan page, so try the networks your phone lists one at a time, wait about a minute after each selection, and keep the one that gives you data.
Check your dashboard
Log in to tukango.com on WiFi and check your eSIM status. It should show Active or In Use. If it still shows Installed, the eSIM hasn't connected yet — restart and try again.
Still stuck?
Email support@tukango.com from the airport WiFi. Include your order number, phone model, and the country you're in. A person who can see your order reads and answers every message.
